People staying at the villa (Family)

We have reserved and paid for the Villa for Thursday and Friday night, April 10th and 11th. (Thanks Caren’s Mom). If you would like to stay before or after these dates, please contact Lorenzo at the Villa directly. His email is info@villapoggiosanfelice.com. Caren and I are arriving Tuesday at the villa and staying till Monday. The villa is 10 minutes from the center of Florence – the wedding planner also has suggested two other hotels within a short distance from the villa. These are also listed in a previous post on the blog.

Please email Caren or me if you have any questions.

Residence Michelangiolo
villa/hotel within 5 minutes walking distance to historical center of Florence

Villa Le Piazzole Montartino
in the Florentine hills near the villa, but a little further from town than the other hotel. This looks like a "quieter" location. They offer not only rooms, but also more apartment style accommodations for larger groups of people.

Tours in Tuscany - Day Trips from Florence

Several people have mentioned taking day trips from Florence – here are a few options of where to go within an hour or two of Florence.

- San Gimignano http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Gimignano
- Assisi http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assisi
- Lucca http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucca
- Siena http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siena
- Pisa – (don’t do it)

I did a quick google search and came out with a couple of tour companies

A little off topic – But could be helpful…

Rome hotels

Caren and I have done some research into Bed and Breakfasts/Hotels in Rome since we will be spending the last part of our Honeymoon there. We contacted several hotels who were already booked, but one facility was nice enough to provide a list of other hotels in the area – so we thought we would share. These hotels are in Trastevere, which is the oldest part of Rome adjacent to the river and closeby the Pantheon and Piazza Navona. The Forum, Colleseum, and St. Peter’s are not far, either.

Wine Tour

Instead of having a rehearsal dinner, Christian’s parents (Carolyn and Merv) are planning a private wine tour for everybody on Thursday April 10th. It is slated to leave from the Villa (www.villapoggiosanfelice.com) at 11, but we will ask everyone to be at the villa by 10:30am. We will be driven in a bus to a castle in the countryside for lunch, a tour, and winetasting, and then there will be a short stop-off in Greve in Chianti. We should return to the villa by 3pm.

For planning purposes, please let me or Caren know if you will be in town by then and would like to go.
